The Truck Driving program prepares individuals to attain the required knowledge and skills in order to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License. This program provides classroom instruction and practical training designed to prepare the student for commercial truck driving. This program will provide intensive knowledge in safety procedures; laws and penalties applicable to the professional driver, vehicle systems, Department of Transportation rules and regulations, as well as training in cargo handling, and hazardous materials. Students will also receive extensive hands-on training in backing, parking, starting, stopping, turning, couple, uncouple, docking, emergency equipment, sharing the road, and preventive maintenance. The student will also prepare to take the Texas CDL license to operate a tractor-trailer.
Students successfully completing this program may expect to qualify for employment as a Local Driver, Regional Driver, Interstate Driver, Team Driver, Owner-Operator, Company Driver, Independent Owner-Operator, Flat Bed Driver, Tanker Drivers, Vocational Driver, Drayage Driver, Bull rack Driver among other types of driver categories.
